Today being Valentines Day, I thought this pertinent.
If you are looking for Love then this is what I strongly suggest….
Actually there are really 3 stages 🙂 The first one sounds a little cliche but is so true!
LOVE Yourself First! Without this the rest cannot follow.
So how do we do this?
1) Become AWARE of YOU.
A few years ago, I was practicing for a speaking event. It was one of my first and I was feeling a little nervous. I had been doing self affirmations for a while. As I looked at myself in the mirror I repeated…’Come on Danielle, you can do this… You are great, confident, strong, etc, etc’
Suddenly I had a light bulb moment.
I had been doing it wrong!
Can you spot what I did??
Do you say affirmations like that or at all?
I had being saying…’Danielle YOU are ..bla bla..‘ Do you see? I had been speaking to myself as another person.
I was looking in the mirror encouraging someone else all along. Not me!
How could that ever have an effect?
Now, this is such a simple difference but HUGELY powerful when you take the time to really digest it. I changed my affirmations to ‘I can do it…etc…etc‘ as I looked in the mirror.
It was actually difficult for me at first this way! I felt embarrassed congratulating myself!
Like I didn’t deserve it 😉 As though it was a vain thing to do.
Can you see the difference?
Have a go. Notice if you feel discomfort at first.
That’s simply pushing you past resistance and preconditioning.
It is okay to believe in yourself.
It is okay to LOVE yourself!
You are YOU and unique.
Do this, be aware of YOU and LOVE yourself.
When you do this you are then capable to love others fully.
2) Remember that how you feel about yourself is simply a sum of the stories you have played in your head up to this point.Keep that in mind…
Now do this.
Notice where – yes WHERE– the negative things you think of yourself come from.
Do they pull you down to the left? Is that the same place your past memories come from?
Notice now when you think of your strengths. Where do they come from?
Is it a slightly different place? Do these thoughts pull you up more? Cause you to look upwards?
Interesting isn’t it…?
That’s because you are now creating your future. If you want to love yourself more, then start doing it.
Focus in the direction of your strengths.
Now do this –
* Close your eyes.
* Imagine someone or something (it could be your dog) that loves you in front of you.
* Imagine now stepping out of your body into theirs.
* Turn around in their body and look at yourself.
* Notice the feelings of love through this body for you.
Notice what they think of you.
How they see you.
What strengths they believe you have.
Notice how wonderful that feeling of love is and how it makes you feel.
* Keep that feeling as you bring yourself back into your body.
Bring that with you and its new perspective as you go about your life today!
